Fun in the sun

Over the past few days the kids have chosen to play with the hose instead of swimming! Its funny to watch them zooooommm down the slide as someone else is spraying them. Brycen and Tyler insisted that they wear goggles, silly boys.

I can't believe that the count down has begun 25days left till school starts. I will officially have a middle schooler!! I am still not sure how we are going to deal with dropping/picking her up everyday. Really I am only worried about a few times, Thur when the boys have therapy only because one of the therapists never runs on time........drives me nuts! The drop off isn't really a big issues but Tyler has ST at the school and if they are not willing to see him another time durning the day I don't know what I am going to do. My understanding is they have to accommodate him and provide him with services.

As for the kids they are ready to head back to school. Its been a long summer, between med changes for Brycen and now Kiley's arm we haven't done much. I was planning on going to the beach every other week this summer. We have been to the beach 2 times this summer. Pretty sad when you think that we only live 45minutes from the beach. Oh well thats how things fall sometimes!!!

A few new things in our house

Today Kiley got her "pink" cast. Surgery went well with no surprises, always a good thing. Because of the past they chose to give her an IV for fluids and also to give her a little nausea medicine. That seemed to do the trick, for the first time ever she didn't get sick after leaving the surgery center. She seems to be feeling a little better and we can hope that she will sleep well tonight. After getting home I made our purchase, she should have her DryPro sometime tomorrow or Thur. She will be able to swim and shower, always a good thing.

Tyler finally got his new braces today. We were suppose to pick them up last Thur but since we were in the ER with Kiley this was a little hard to do. This is a DAFO Turbo #1 he really has 2pairs in one brace. He will wear them both for bedtime, this is to decrease leg/foot pain. He will then take off the tall part and will wear the short ones during the day. The color and strap choices were all his doing. He seems to like the multi colored padding he now has.

We have to hope that this is it for awhile, besides his bed we are still working on. I was also hoping to post a funny picture of Brycen tonight BUT for some reason my camera or memory card seems to like to loose my pictures. For whatever reason I don't know but I am not happy with it right now!

Our Big Boy!!!

I think I can officially say I have a big boy! He has been in underwear for just about a week. He has been BM'ed trained for sometime but the pee thing has been hard. For the past week I let him just be in "undies" as he calls them. Even with tube feedings he has stayed dry! Today while waiting for the ortho he had to go potty and yet he held it till we left the room (close to an hour!). We did no 3day potty training or wearing pull ups, we waited for him to show signs he was ready and we went with his cues! YAYAYAYA we can do the happy dance! No more diapers for us, ok well nightimes ones.
On a side note Kiley will have surgery in the morning @10:15am. She will have her PINK cast, but the sad part is she will not have a waterproof one. As he explained it, the waterproof ones leave to much "slip" room and this could mean that her bone could move again, causing us more issues. I usderstand as much as it saddens me that she won't be able to have this, maybe in a week or two. I did some looking on the net after we got home because I remember using a product when she broke her leg to be able to give her a bath. Sure enough I found it http://www.drycorp.com/ what a cool product it is! I will order it as soon as we get home so I know what size she needs. At least she won't be out of the pool for the rest of the summer!

and it doesn't get better.......

Today I called many different Ortho offices to get Kiley seen. She (nor I) slept last night. She needed better pain control. Well I ended up taking her to a walk in Ortho no one else could see her till Monday afternoon. They took her partial cast off and x rayed it. Well it was not the news we wanted to hear......Kiley's bone is at a 17degree angle, meaning not straight. So what are they going to do for her? She will see a Dr on Monday morning. Most likely he will schedule her for surgery, she needs to be sedated again to set it again.

How do we feel about this? Well I have concerns if its popped out of place once again? What will stop it from doing it again only causing her to have it rebroken and set again? I am wondering if a pin would be a better choice, but the Dr will let us know what he thinks.

Pain med's: We had Tylenol with Codeine but it wasn't giving her much relief. Today she was given Vicodine (liquid) but like her daddy it didn't give her any relief at all. So here we are she is laying next to me crying her arm hurts. I am off to tend to her.......lets hope we get some sleep tonight! Guess we might take a trip to the ped's in the morning...............

Kiley's broken arm

For those of you who follow me on FB you already know, Kiley broke her arm today. We were at the ice rink and just hanging out till I needed her to warm up before practice. She spotted some friends and started walking toward them to give them a hug. She tripped over her sister's feet causing her to fall. I watched the whole thing, she fell straight onto her left arm, she didn't try to stop herself by putting her hands out (maybe a good thing). As soon as I took one look at her arm I knew it was bad :( I had the employee's call 911 since I was there alone with 4kids. My mom showed up to take the 3 other kids, I went with Kiley via ambulance to the hospital, Chris met up down there. The whole time she was crying because she wasn't going to be able to Ice Skate, talk about dedication! They gave her morphine on the way to the hospital and once at the hospital they gave her Tylenol with codeine. 3 Xrays latter they confirmed it was broken. She broke both bones in her left arm completely, they had to set her arm. To do this they gave her a sedative, to be honest she is quite funny when she is all loopy. She called *mommy* about 10 times even though I was right by her and talking to her. She has a temporary cast and will see Ortho either tomorrow or Monday to get a full cast. She is requesting a water-proof cast, that is PINK!!! Poor kid will be out of ice skating for some time. Here are a few pic's of Kiley at home, once the cast is on I will post again.

4th of July

This is one of my favorite holiday's. Why you ask?! Well to be fully honest I don't know. As a young child I don't remember doing a lot for the 4th, no big parties nothing. Maybe its the fireworks and everyone coming together to celebrate America. I really don't know but its one of my fav's! We had a wonderful day, no rain, warm and sunny, who could ask for more right! We first went to the Mt. Dora Parade.
And yes I know I am missing one! When I asked Michaela if she wanted to go with us I got the answer I knew I would "Parade" (insert rolling eyes). Now I will say that I did give her a choice to go or stay home. She choose to stay home. I guess I would rather enjoy myself then to have an upset child because she really didn't want to go. There are many times a choice is not given and she does deal with it and so do we!

This is one of my favorite pictures from the parade. You could hear the scraping of the pedals to the ground. It was neat to watch how precise they were. Brycen was just in awww of them and couldn't take his eyes off them. Tyler on the other hand wasn't so sure but he did like them, just not the noise!

Latter that day we went to Kim and Ed's house to swim and BBQ! The kids had such a blast swimming with Kim, Ed and can't forget Sam!

He really did enjoy this and was tossed a few times I just love the expression on his face.

This is Sam! Our kids always look for him when we go outside to play.

Brycen would spend his days under water if we let him. He is a little fish when it comes to swimming!

We then went to Mt. Dora to see the fireworks. All I can say is WOW, its always amazing to watch and listen to the music in the background! The kids did really well. Tyler did better this year then last year and although after the first one he was done and would say "Boom Boom all done." He'd uncover his ears only to watch the next one and say it again. We came home and did our sparklers, we had to wake Tyler up but once he got going his was enjoying himself.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!
